Great Dane Announces Annual Scholarship Winners

(August 7, 2012) Great Dane Trailers is proud to announce the winners of the 2012 Great Dane college scholarships. Four children of Great Dane employees were named recipients, and the award recognizes each student's outstanding academic achievements.

Michael Durkee, Sebastian Peipher, Mishea'la Russell and Lauren Ashley were selected from a group of nationwide applicants.

Each year, an impartial third-party committee judges applications based on a combination of high school grade point average (GPA), Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) scores and extracurricular activities. The highest-ranked applicant receives a four-year scholarship valued at $4,000, and the next three highest ranked students are awarded two-year scholarships valued at $2,000. This year's award also included a Kindle Fire for each of the scholarship recipients. Only the children of Great Dane's corporate, branch and manufacturing plant employees are eligible for these scholarships. Applicants not chosen for Great Dane scholarships were given a $50 gift card to Staples.

ABOUT THE WINNERS:

  • Lauren Ashley, daughter of Scott Ashley, Great Dane Savannah corporate office, won the four-year scholarship valued at $4,000. She graduated from Calvary Day School with high honors. Lauren plans to major in early childhood education at Armstrong Atlantic State University and will still pursue her love of dance through local performances.
